Your Copywriting Can Make a Venture Capitalist Notice You July 30th, 2008

For ventures seeking a first time entry in the business world, venture capital may become the key that opens these doors. Sadly though, it is seen most of the times that connecting to these venture capital firms can be almost impossible for these new entrepreneur, as most of these capital firms fail to recognize the true potential of such new ventures. Wisely written copywriting can resolve these connectivity problems and may lead to transforminge lost opportunities into some of the most successful ventures.

Focus on your Venture Capitalist

Wisely written web content and well-chosen keywords pull search engines like a magnet which encourage viewers to visit a website. An entrepreneur with a handful of creative ideas with insufficient capital can do nothing without a venture capitalist. So his primary focus must be on capturing the attention of one.

Research your keywords

Your first and foremost step must be to conduct a refined and intelligent keyword research. Also you must scrutinize in detail what a venture capitalist is always interested in– trends, markets, ideas and benefits. Your second step should now be the formulation of an SEO plan according to the needs of your project.

Bring your strengths to the forefront

Your technologies and companies that stem naturally out of your value chain can never be highlighted until they appear together on the portfolio of a single investor. It is very important for you to ensure that these strengths are highlighted in your marketing material and web copy.

Zoom in to your benefits

Very similar to customers, capitalists need to be motivated emotionally. What they see on your web copy and marketing material is what stirs them to take an action in your favor. An experienced copywriter helps you achieve your goals by creating such e-mails, website content, and business cards for you that attract a venture capitalist.

Use an emotional appeal

An efficient copywriter can create overpowering effects in your marketing material by focusing on the primary interest zones of a venture capitalist.

Aiming for entrepreneurs with potential

The problem that entrepreneurs face in connecting with venture capitalists is not one way. Venture capitalists find it much more difficult to make a wise connection with the appropriate deals, proposals, efficient and effective teams and correct ideas.

Websites that are created to ease the decision making process for venture capitalists, only highlight current portfolios, past successes, and partner profiles without doing much to assist new ventures that could have huge potential within them.

Sale oriented approach

Just as it would be for any copywriting project or marketing plan, content that is written for sale generation should be a part of your important “to-do-steps”. Your words explain what you are. So choose them wisely.

The significance of SEO is that it helps to improve search engine directory rankings for websites that use SEO properly. The keywords used in SEO copywriting are the primary source to boosting the website’s ranking by providing optimization of content.

SEO copywriting performs two primary tasks; one is to help the website hit the desired ranking within search engine directories and the other is to increase reader traffic. Web businesses pay significant attention to increasing their website’s visitor traffic. An SEO copywriting, in order to be categorized as good, must create content that drives more traffic and directs maximum visitors towards the website, eventually increasing the ROI for the business. SEO copywriting content varies in forms. It can be categorized as classified ads, blogs, forums, business listings and articles etc. Any such form of content, if well written, can increase the website ranking within search engine directories.

Despite the significance of SEO copywriting, it cannot be given complete credit to being the sole factor in leading to a website’s ranking. Various other SEO techniques must be merged along with it to achieve the goal.

Traditional copywriting techniques differ from SEO copywriting in terms of style. The difference lies where traditional form of copywriting uses content that appeals to the reader whereas SEO copywriting not only focuses on the reader’s interests but also focuses towards attracting search engine spiders. This way the goal of attracting readers and search engine bots is met. SEO copywriters, for this reason, are keen and choosy about the keywords they use within their content, as these lay the foundation that determines the ranking of a website within search engine directories.

SEO copywriting however has its shortcoming, which happens to be that it cannot achieve search engine optimization for every site. It can only cater to a few suitable ones. A website lacking in adequate content fails to gain good hits. More over it doesn’t even require SEO copywriting. SEO copywriting has a maximum level of efficiency when the website content has numerous search terms.

Are Headlines and Titles Important in an Article? July 26th, 2008

When you are reading an article or content on a web page, you may be put off by massive blocks of writing. I know I am. I find long blocks of words rather difficult to read, often letting my eyes run away onto other lines before I have finished the line of writing that I am on. It looks dull, it very often sounds dull when you read it, and many people just don’t have the patience to sit and read long blocks of writing.

Headlines and Titles:

Headlines and subheads separating written paragraphs look good. By having a title for each paragraph, readers can find the part of the article that they are looking for easily, leaving them fresh and able to read the rest of the article if they so wish. If you expect a reader to sit and read through massive paragraphs and blocks of text, they will very often get bored before they reach the information that they actually want to read and may go on to another article or website. Long, unbroken blocks of text defeat the point of having the information there in the first place!

Separating blocks of writing into smaller, more manageable paragraphs ensures that the reader will not get bored and will continue to read on. Not only that, but it looks neater and also comes across as more appealing to the average reader. It also lets the reader know which bit contains certain parts of information, and therefore keeps their concentration and attention span fresh.

Examples of Good Titles:

You can make headlines and titles amusing in some way to keep the reader entertained. They don’t have to be dull, informational titles. For example, a title such as – “How to make a cup of tea” could be changed to – “Keep the husband happy, make the perfect cup of tea!” It allows the reader to empathize at some level with the article they are reading, breaking up long reading sessions and encouraging them to read on. “Cliffhanger” titles and headlines also manage to do this. Holding back on a little part of the information in the title will increase the reader’s curiosity and make them want to read further. It is small ideas like this that spell the difference between a good website and a great website, and unfortunately, it is a concept that not many people have yet grasped.

From a personal point of view, headlines and titles are very important in any article, not just on a website. However, in other media forms, such as magazines or newspapers as well, I often find myself avoiding long passages of text and opting to read the pieces that have funny titles or titles I don’t quite understand, just to find out what the article is about. I get bored mid-way through pages of writing, and find them monotonous and dull, and end up changing websites or pages. Not only does adding headings and titles to a block of text keep the readers attention when you add them to a block of text, it also looks much neater and more attractive. That is why they are very important in any good article!

Five Rules for Influential Web Writing July 24th, 2008

For those who make writing their profession, you probably know the importance of earning a reputation for both capability and reliability. Moreover, the reputation you build for yourself is completely based upon what you write, what positions you endorse in your web writing and the actions and motions that you advocate through your writing.

When you need to convey a powerful message for both your business online and your web writing, there are five rules that you should apply to properly and successfully promote your message and your business:

1. Stay on task – it is important to remember that the goal for good writing online is to persuade others by encouraging them to take actions and change their thoughts. When you look beyond the facts and data of a topic, you are able to focus on the position you want to take. You need to firmly believe in what you take a stand on in order to convey that message through your writing and convince others.

2. Make your point or points in a timely manner – know that any given visitor to your website will only be there for a few minutes, so that is all the time you have to persuade them with your writing online. If you do not make the point you need to make right away, you will probably lose the visitor’s interest. When you are writing online and making your point, make sure that you are direct, brief and that your written tone exudes confidence.

3. Write to future audiences and readers – do not focus on readers who will only be at your website for a very short time. Rather, focus on who may be reading the material in the future and appeal to them as well. With new mass storage and archiving systems online, the pieces of writing you put out there have the potential to stay around for a long time.

4. Be timely- avoid posting and online writing that will not be useful in years to come. You need to make sure you draw conclusions and give readers resolve for what you are writing about.

5. Make it about you – be sure to include information on yourself and provide the best contact information that you can. You don’t want to put information out there that might not help anyone interested in your products or service to contact you.

If you follow these steps when you are doing your web writing, you will find how much more successful and profitable your website can become.

Why is Quality Copywriting Important to Websites? July 23rd, 2008

When you first visit a website, you always get a first impression. This may be based on the colors used in the website, the pictures that are on it, or even the style of writing and the font used. First impressions are hard to correct. If they are negative, however, quality website content can help change this.

If a website is bland and boring, most visitors tend to move on to another website. However, there have been a few times when visitors about move on to another site, but have noticed some of the writing on the website and decided to stay and investigate further. Good quality copywriting on a website is essential. Obviously, if the first impression is great and visitors initially liked the overall look of the website, that’s what you want. However, when the content is poor, visitors still give up and visit another website. That is why quality copywriting is essential in websites. It captures and holds the visitor’s attention.

Obviously, there are many reasons why quality copywriting is important to websites, and the reason given above is just one of these. Another reason why it is important is because when you are using your content as a method of Internet marketing, and in specific, search engine marketing or search engine optimization, written quality is vital. Good quality content on your site will ensure that your site or page is ranked highly in search engine results. Therefore, you will get more viewers from those that browse the Internet. The keywords that are in your website content, as well as the keyword density that used, also help it.

There is one thing that you must remember when considering keyword density, however, and that is that there are not too many keywords used in a short passage of text. This will mean that it just looks as though the owner of the site has tried too hard and then the text doesn’t always make sense. This often occurs when keywords are not used in the right context, are used too many times or randomly placed in sentences. There has to be the right ratio of keywords vs. relevant text used within an article of, say 500 words.

You also need to ensure that the content is unique. Copywriters may have copied and pasted from another website or used the same sentences too often. This results in plagiarism and makes your website look unprofessional.

The importance of good quality copywriting cannot be over stressed; there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration. As long as all of these factors are thought about and the unspoken “rules” are put into place, then you should find that you have no problems and that your website will attract lots of traffic.

How to Be Effective Writing Strategic SEO Content July 19th, 2008

Many people wonder what the secret to writing effective, successful SEO content really is. Well, it is a matter of understanding the basics of SEO writing and being effective at it. You need to ask yourself what the main goal of your SEO writing is – to most people, it is to get the best listings possible. If this is your goal, you need to understand how it works and how to use it to your advantage.

First, there are some things you need to avoid when writing SEO content. The biggest one to know is to never use black hat SEO. Don’t make the mistake a lot of people make when writing SEO content and fall victim to using black hat material. Sure, it may work in the short-term for some people, and it may look like it is working, but if you get caught, it will backfire on you completely. Chances of you getting caught using black hat SEO are very good – in fact pretty much a guarantee.

If you do get caught using black hat SEO, your website and reputation are ruined. You need to use your own original ideas – be unique. Unique links, unique content and unique listings are what get you the rankings that you want. Use some creativity when you are marketing, and come up with ideas and strategies that are your own.

There also has to be a pattern to it all – use your SEO keywords in articles, links, blogs and Craigs List ads. Be consistent with them and be sure to use relevant content. This is one of the best ways to ensure your SEO writing will be successful. Writing SEO content does not have to be difficult, but you have to be determined and creative.
